Telescopic Way Covers

This is a replacement for bellows in Machines where hot chips are produced while machining & continuous flow of coolants or lubricants.

Telescopic Way Covers are a protection of the guide ways, (hence way cover), and anything in between the way surfaces like ball screws or electrical wires, against mechanical influences such as chips, chemical coolants, and other machining environment components. Telescopic way covers are extensible or compressible by the sliding of steel overlapping sections. SIGN AGE telescopic way covers when properly maintained increase the run time of your machine, and are the best solution when hot oils, coolants, metal chips, and heavy material removal are present in the machining environment, in contrast to a fabric bellows.

It will cost you less to repair or replace the way cover than the ways or components the way cover protects, so it is highly recommended to perform regular maintenance on your machine tool protection products. When a machine builder is thinking about a machine, the way covers are the last item to be thought of for performance.

Because the way covers move and steel sections slide on top of one another wipers wiping the surface on top of the steel, and guides guiding on the ways supporting the way cover, friction occurs. Friction is one factor of the wipers, steel, and guides being a wearable part. The other factors are the addition of the companies variables: the material you are machining: cast iron will rust your covers if they are not made of stainless or have a rust proof preventative, the size of the chips, the coolant type you are using, synthetic coolants will eat your wipers away.

The most important factor before you even run your way cover is the installation. If your way cover is not mounted properly, it will not perform at 100%, not allowing your machine to perform and make you money at its peak.
